Eye Exams

An annual eye examination is important to maintaining the health of your eyes as many ocular diseases can go undetected without routine eye care. A comprehensive exam can detect most common eye diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration so they may be treated, thus preserving your precious vision. Patients with underlying medical illness such as diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis, also require careful ocular examination to detect changes in the eyes associated with these conditions.

Arlington Eye Physicians Office

What to Expect

If you are a new patient, you should plan to spend 1 and ½ to 2 hours in our office. Your eyes will be dilated, blurring the vision for several hours, so we recommend bringing a driver. Once you arrive for your eye exams, our eye doctor will meet with you and ask if you have any questions or concerns you would like to have addressed. We will then conduct an examination to look for any problems that may require treatment and make recommendations regarding how to move forward to ensure you have the best possible treatment.

Please bring a list of your current medications and any referral information or pertinent past medical records along with you. Also, please bring your glasses, contact lenses, and information about the contacts, including brand, base curve and power.

Exams for All Types of Issues

While everyone requires eye exams to check on the state of their current eye health and to ensure they can see as well as they can, others may require diabetic eye exams in Arlington Heights or Mount Prospect. Without the proper care and diabetic eye exams, these individuals could ultimately suffer from extremely poor eyesight and potentially even blindness. This is why our experienced eye doctor encourage everyone, especially those who are a higher risk, to get the eye exams they require.
